    Steve McLaren is the Captain and was the project manager for the Elena project.  Steve has over 40 years of experience sailing and building the world’s most magnificent yachts. Prior to Elena he built and ran 120 foot sailing yacht Alejandra for 10 years.  This was followed by several seasons as Captain of classic yacht Eleonora cruising and racing her all over the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. As a result, Steve has an extensive knowledge of the best anchorages and sailing grounds on both sides of the Atlantic.

    First Mate - Tzara Bieroweic

    Tzara grew up in England and discovered her passion for sailing at the age of 16. Since then, she has developed her expertise from working on a number of large sailing yachts and also captaining the 100ft classic spirit yacht GAIA around the Mediterranean. A long with her passion for sailing, Tzara enjoys ensuring every guest has a safe and enjoyable experience whilst on board.

    Chef - Benedicte Cochard

    Benedicte is a young French chef who specializes in full-flavoured Mediterranean dishes and fusion cooking. Her skills also include Japanese, sushi and some Indian and Russian cuisine – whatever the guests request!

    Benedicte began her career working on boats, in villas and in prestigious institutions under the likes of Jacques Chibois, Gordon Ramsay and Bruno Oger. Her most recent restaurant was the 2 Star-Michelin “Joel Robuchon” in Monaco. Since then she has dedicated herself to yachts and her experience includes 47m motor yacht My secret, 35m MY Over the rainbow of London and 52m MY Latinou.

    Benedicte loves the opportunity to work with the best quality produce available, gaining her inspiration from local markets.

    When away from the galley, Benedicte enjoys snowboarding, swimming, reading and also has a keen interest in fashion.

    Bosun - Andrew Barber

    Andrew, more commonly known to the crew as Nipper, is British but grew up with his family of sailing enthusiasts in Palma de Mallorca. In the three and half years since Andrew joined Elena, he has come to know every facet of the yacht, and is all-but part of the furniture on board. Andrew is fluent in Spanish.

    Chief Stewardess - Laura Pearson

    Laura was born and bred the South of England, where she was raised sailing on the English Channel and on family holidays in the Mediterranean.

    Laura started working on Elena during the final stages of her construction in Northern Spain, and during that time she has developed a love for the boat which is evident as she greets guests on board. Her main goal is to make guests as comfortable as possible and ensure they have the time of their lives whilst on board.

    Deckhand - Ruan Van Eden

    Ruan grew up in a small town in South Africa where he attended sailing school and completed his Coastal Skipper as well as other qualifications.

    Ruan joined Elena of London in April 2016 having previously completed two season on S/Y Angel Share, a Wally 130". He joined Elena of London to expand his knowledge of classic sailing.

    Stewardess - Ceri Childs

    Ceri grew up in Worcester in central England. She had a passion for travel from a very young age and has been lucky enough to travel all over the world to places including the United States of America, South Africa, Japan and all over the Mediterranean.

    Ceri joined the crew of Elena of London in May 2016. Her main aim is to make sure guests have a wonderful experience and offer a very top class service whilst onboard.

  • Timothy Coombs Engineer
    Timothy Coombs

    Engineer - Timothy Coombs

    Tim was brought up away from the sea in Derbyshire but spent every holiday messing around with boats on the South Coast from a young age. He discovered a passion for life on the water and went on to study Naval Architecture at university. He then started working on boats fulltime to gain a more practical approach to yacht design and production.

    Tim enjoys the challenges of engineering as well as sailing and helping on deck as much as possible.
